CORE 7.0: File Playback with Hybrik
Updated over a week ago

Hybrik provides improvements to the CORE player that improves the user experience and the range of videos and audio files supported

This article covers the following:

What is Hybrik and Why Should I Care

Hybrik offers resilient, "in the background", enterprise, cloud audio and video media processing for your ingested files.

Just like the Intel chips inside computers, 5th Kind has incorporated Hybrik into our media processing solutions. Hybrik is a cloud media processing platform from the Dolby Professional Corporation that will enhance our existing transcoding media platform while adding further features “under the hood.”

Benefits of CORE With Hybrik

While the look and functions of file playback in CORE seem the same, users will benefit from an overall improved experience within the player:

  • Mobile playback loading and performance boost. In addition to the UI improvements made with the new build, the playback of files/clips using Hybrik gives a noticeable speed boost.

  • More Quality Control (QC) and deeper security for your files. With Hybrik, there will be additional QC and security checks than previous versions to verify file integrity upon download and on finished proxy / transcoded files.

  • The ability to support more file types within the CORE player. CORE is expanding the video specification list to be more "media agnostic" to most formats.

Additional Benefits: CORE Support of HDR formats

In addition to the current HD ingest specs, CORE will be able to display HDR formats and Dolby Vision HDR formats in future builds.

HDR vs. Dolby Vision HDR

HDR is a video technology that presents pictures with a wider amount of colors, brightness and contrast, allowing them to look more natural on an HDR-enabled display.

Dolby Vision takes things one step further. It is a version of HDR that is designed to preserve a lot more information that can flow through from the original content creation

Additional Benefits: Expanded Support of Audio Files to include up to 10 Audio Channels

CORE can now support and ingest files with Dolby Atmos with up to 10 channels. With Hybrik and CORE, files with Dolby Atmos can be ingested, processed and playable on CORE.
