Core 7.5.12 Release Notes

Default Share Settings, Filter Users by Position, Sharing Permission Fixes, and Performance Improvements

This release brings improvements to sharing, user administration, security, and platform reliability. Highlights include configurable default download limits and expiration dates for package shares, a new Position filter on the Manage Users list, customizable SSO login headings, and expanded mobile offline watermarking for Word and PowerPoint files. It also includes fixes for sharing permissions and notifications, role settings, impersonation, SSO provisioning and migration, file deletion, package restoration, downloads, and calendar navigation, along with performance updates and the retirement of the legacy Screener.

Sharing & Packages

  • Default download limits and expiration for shares

Sites can now be configured with default download limits and expiration periods for package shares, so a client's sharing policy is applied to every new share automatically. Senders can still adjust or turn off these defaults on an individual share. Contact Sohonet Support to set defaults for your site.

  • Sharing controls respect user permissions

Fixed a limited issue where some users without package sharing permissions could see the Share icon in File Search, the Share button on the package panel, or the option to start new discussions from the player. These users can still create personal packages from the Package menu to organize and collect assets.

  • Share notifications for source-quality downloads

Fixed an issue where recipients did not receive any email when a package was shared with "Allow download WITHOUT watermark" and Source quality selected.

  • Impersonation stays active across tabs

Fixed an issue where Core could switch back to the original account while impersonating another user, for example when opening an asset link in a new tab. Packages are now created under the impersonated account as expected.

  • Packages with cancelled files can be opened

Packages where every file has a Cancelled status now open correctly instead of failing to load.

  • Correct message when restoring a package

Restoring a package from the Deleted filter in the Inbox now displays "Package has been restored" instead of an incorrect "deleted" message.

File Management & Viewing

  • Deleting a single file no longer affects other files

Fixed an issue where deleting one file at the File View level within an upload or asset group could remove other files within the same group or upload.

  • Asset Viewer reliability

The Asset Viewer now opens and plays content even when a browser extension or network issue blocks a monitoring script.

  • Calendar keyboard navigation

Using the arrow keys in a date field no longer changes the asset shown in the background. Date highlights in the calendar are now visible in Dark Mode.

Watermarking & Mobile

  • Offline watermarking for Word and PowerPoint

Mobile offline downloads now apply watermarks to Word and PowerPoint files, in addition to PDFs and images.

  • Improved watermarking for large PDFs

Watermark processing for very large PDFs has been optimized so these files are reliably viewable after processing.

User & Role Management

  • Filter users by Position

The Manage Users list now includes a Position filter. Positions are shown alongside their department, making it easy to tell apart positions with the same name.

  • Coordinator role settings save correctly

Fixed an issue where saving a Coordinator role that required re-authentication could reset the selected MFA type, Package Manager, Box access, and watermark settings to their defaults.

SSO & Login

  • Customizable SSO login heading

Administrators can now change the "Corporate Login" heading on the login page to match their organization's branding.

  • Improved login error handling

Users now see a standard error page if an SSO login fails, instead of technical error details.

  • More reliable SSO user creation

New SSO users are now created successfully even if the administrator notification email cannot be sent.

  • SSO migration for invited and guest accounts

Accounts created through package share invitations and guest Visitor Links can now be migrated to SSO along with other user accounts.

Performance & Reliability

  • Faster tag key restriction updates

Updating tag key restrictions now completes in seconds instead of timing out on large libraries.

  • Aspera upload stability

Improved handling of Aspera file paths to prevent interruptions to upload processing.

  • Faster login during high load

Login and other activity logging now run in the background, improving response times when the system is busy.

  • Fewer gateway timeouts

Server and load balancer settings have been updated to reduce timeout errors on longer-running requests.

  • Reduced library load times for users with complex user permissions

Reduced library asset load times by half for users with complex permissions within large asset libraries. Further improvements planned.

Security & Platform

  • Legacy Screener retired

The legacy Screener has been retired. Existing Screener links now redirect to Core.
