How to Restore an Archived File

Step 1: Find your file

Step 2: Initiate a download

  • Select individual assets or a cross selection. For all assets in a package or group, skip this step.

  • Open the download panel by selecting the download icon.

  • Choose to download to a drive or to Box.

Step 3: Messaging confirmation

  • When assets have been archived, you’ll see a message indicating that the asset(s) need to be retrieved and are not immediately available.

    • For a mixed download where assets are both archived and active, messaging will apply to the archived assets only.

    • Active assets will download immediately.

  • In app messaging will alert the user that assets are being pulled from the archive

Step 4: Wait for retrieval

  • The system begins restoring the file from archive storage

  • You’ll see progress/status updates in the UI

  • You’ll also receive an email notification indicating that your download has initiated and that you'll be notified when the assets are retrieved and ready for download

    • Email notification messaging explains an estimated timeline for the archive retrieval process and download

Step 5: Download your file

  • If you're not actively in the Core app:

    • Once ready, you’ll receive a “Download Ready” notification

    • Return to the download page or follow the link provided

    • Download as normal

  • If you're in the Core app when the Download is ready, the app will immediately start downloading the restored archival files

Important Notes
