CORE Guide for Editorial Teams

FOR DISTRIBUTING DAILIES & CUTS TO PRODUCTIONS

For the best CORE experience, use the Chrome browser. CORE is also supported in Safari as well as Firefox.

Logging In & Setting Up CORE

  1. Login to your desktop browser at client 5th Kind url. At first login, you’ll be prompted to accept a general license agreement. Accept it, and you’ll be redirected to CORE.

  2. Upon logging in, install the Aspera Connect plugin as prompted by the application.

  3. Go to your upload icon in the top bar, and select the “More - 3 dots”. Set your upload option to Aspera.

Receiving & Reordering Packages from Dailies Vendor

When you receive a package from your Dailies Vendor, you’ll receive an email notification.

Select the link to open the files in CORE. If you aren’t already logged in, you’ll be prompted to do so.

The Dailies Vendor should have sent you the package with the ability to Forward and Modify. If they forgot and you are unable to modify the package, create a new package.

NOTE: Reordering and modifying a package will change it for anyone who has sent or received that same package. If you need to send different sets of dailies for different recipient groups, you'll want to duplicate the package and modify it accordingly.

There are two ways you can reorder your dailies for distribution:

Reorder Package Via Thumbnails

Note: Reordering files is best done in Chrome.

To reorder via thumbnails:

  1. Select the package in your Inbox to open it.

  2. Select the thumbnail of the file you want to move and hover over the files where you want to place it.

  3. An Insert Here box will appear. Drop the file there.

  4. Repeat until complete.

Your package can now be shared by selecting the Share icon at the top

Follow the sharing instructions below.

Reorder Package Via List in Package Panel

If reordering by thumbnails just isn’t working, you can reorder the package via the Package Panel, with a couple extra steps:

  1. Select the package in your Inbox to open it.

  2. Go to the right side bar, and select the Package icon. This will open the Package Panel.

    package_icon.png
  3. Search for the package in the Package Menu

  4. Select the name of the package to activate it in the package panel

  5. To reorder the files within this list, select the gray bar on the left of each file to drag it to a new position.

  6. Repeat until complete.

  7. Refresh the page and you'll see the order reflected in the open package on the left.

Your package can now be shared by selecting the Share button at the bottom of the panel.

Or you can continue to work with it until you're prepared to share it.

Resharing Dailies Packages

Once your package has been reordered and is ready to send, share it. For recipient groups who need different viewing experiences or messages, you will send the files as different packages:

1. Example: Share Package with Studio team for redistribution to Studio stakeholders

  1. Select your Package Type = STANDARD

  2. Subject Line / Package Name = Project Title - Day # - Shoot Date - Quality - Dailies

  3. Recipients = Studio Post Contact

  4. Write your message

  5. Share Settings = Auto defaults + Forward package + Modify package

  6. Download = Auto defaults (Recipient Settings)

  7. Your settings will be summarized at the bottom so you can validate they are correct.

  8. Select Share

2. Example: Share Package with Production stakeholders for viewing

  1. Select your Package Type = AUTOPLAY

  2. Subject Line / Package Name = Project Title - Day # - Shoot Date - Quality - Dailies

  3. Recipients = Production Name_Dailies List

  4. Write your message

  5. Share Settings = Auto defaults

  6. Download = Auto defaults

  7. Your settings will be summarized at the bottom so you can validate they are correct. You can apply overrides as desired.

  8. Select Share

Create Different Packages for Different Groups - Duplicate a Package

If you need to send different sets of dailies, such as one set of dailies to the production and a different set to the studio, you'll need to duplicate (create a new package from) the original dailies package.

  1. Open the original dailies package

  2. Go to the ( ⋮ ) More menu

  3. Select Duplicate package

  4. Choose the package type

  5. Name it

  6. Modify it as you see fit

  7. Send when ready
